Five Bloggers Share their Bold, Voluminous, and Luscious Mascara Go-To's

When I bought my first mascara I was roped into a Covergirl blue tube of “professional mascara”. The reason I picked it up… my mom, a non-makeup wearer, recommended it. While I love my mom, she didn’t know what she was talking about. It was runny, and clumpy, and grey, and horrible. I was a “professional mess” and in an aisle of mascara tube after mascara tube I had no idea which tube to buy next.

Then came my discovery of beauty blogs, and beauty vlogs, and all the good stuff that told me what to buy. I full heartedly believe that without this discovery my eyelashes would have lived a completely different life. In the spirit of blogger recommendations, I asked five of my favorite bloggers to share their go-to, can’t live without, holy grail mascara in the interviews below.

Steph of Steph Hannam

What is you blog called and what do you blog about?

My blog is called Steph Hannam and I blog about all things beauty, lifestyle and a bit of Interiors.

What do you look for in a mascara?

My perfect mascara has to really help to define my lashes whilst giving a bit of volume. I like to have my lashes look really fluttery and natural and I hate having really clumpy lashes. I tend to go for mascaras with a small brush as I find them easier to apply the mascara and avoids clumps.

What is your go-to, can’t live without, holy grail mascara and why?

My go to mascara has to be the Dimensions De Chanel Mascara in 10 Noir. This mascara is my perfect for everyday makeup as well as for occasions. I wore this on my wedding day, it lasted all day and didn't budge through a few tears (even though it's not waterproof.) I love how fluffy the brush is, it really helps to define all my lashes and give them some lift. It's literally my perfect mascara!

recommended for:

-everyday makeup, tear proof wear, and definition/lift power-

What do you look for in a mascara?

I look for very black mascara that lifts and gives me volume, but not too clumpy on the lashes.

What is your go-to, can’t live without, holy grail mascara and why?

My holy grail mascara at the moment is L'Oreal Baby Roll as it gives me the lift with added volume. Not clumpy at all. The fact its at a reasonable price is a bonus too!

Christine and Hailey of Beautyholics101

What is your blog called and what do you blog about?

Our blog is called beautyholics101 and we blog about beauty!

What do you look for in a mascara?

Christine: personally I look for volumizing, long lasting and waterproof! Hailey: I look for lengthening, if it gives me defined and non clumpy lashes, and long lasting!

What is your go-to, can’t live without, holy grail mascara and why?

Christine: I haven't found a holy grail mascara but one I've been loving lately is the Lash Next Door mascara from Brooklyn and Bailey's shop. It does what I want and I wanted to support them since they've wanted to create their own makeup since middle school!

Hailey: I can't live without my NYX worth the hype mascara. It gives beautiful long and defined lashes, no clumps and it lasts all day without any smudging. I've been wearing it every single day!

recommended for:

-lashes that never smudge and stay bold all day-

I look for something that stays on no matter what. I have to use eye drops so I like a mascara that will stay on no matter what

What is your go-to, can’t live without, holy grail mascara and why?

I love the Cover Girl LashBlast Volume Mascara. I love it because it makes my lashes long and lucious. It makes my eyes pop and make me look very much alive.

Katie of Katie Lauren

What is your blog called and what do you blog about?

My blog is called Katie Lauren (so original, I know). My blog page consists of a little bit of everything... fashion, beauty, lifestyle, travel and student life. All the things most important in my life currently.

What do you look for in a mascara?

I naturally have quite long eye lashes so I typically look for a mascara that highlights this making them darker and more volumised without having to apply fake lashes.

What is your go-to, can’t live without, holy grail mascara and why?

My go to mascara is Avon, Mark Spectralash it’s meant to be £10 but majority of the time it’s reduced to £5. I’ve used this one and the older version of this mascara ever since I started wearing make up. I find other mascaras quite dry and then they get itchy and flaky around my eyes, whereas this Avon mascara really makes me feel (and look) a lot more awake!
