Three go-to's for glitter eyes

Despite my current minimal makeup routine, with three to five essentials (if that), I wanted to be a little extra and talk about some glittery eye products. With everything going on right now it seems silly to get glammed or put on a nice outfit. Especially, as we are all spending a ton of time at home. I decided to write this post because I have been spending so much time on Pinterest looking at image after image of stunning makeup. I'm inspired and have decided it's time to add some glitter back to the blog. So, today I’ll be sharing three go-to’s for glitter eyes (with two of the three being from affordable drugstore brands).

A long-lasting glitter base

The Maybelline Color Tattoos ($7.99) are by far the most long-lasting glitter base that I have ever used. The product is a thick cream shadow that can be spread across your eyelid as a base or be used specifically for certain spots. I used to use the shade 55 Inked in Pink, a metallic light pink, as an everyday eye base a few years ago. I would then add some neutrals over it and had a stunning five minute eye look. My favorite thing about this product is the fact that it lasts so long and doesn’t transfer. I would come home, maybe eight hours later, and the shimmer would be just as vibrant on my eyes.

I started using these again and have fallen in love with them all over again. As of right now I’m deciding which of the new shades I want to purchase when this lockdown is over. The newly released shades come in mattes and shimmers and in new sleek packaging.

A touch of glitter n shine

This is one of my favorite ‘on the go’ products that is essential for a chic and easy makeup look. This is the Bourjois Satin Edition 24 Hour Eyeshadow ($8.95) in the shade 01 Beige-Seller which is a muted gold (they say beige but it’s definitely more gold). I mainly wear minimal makeup (concealer, bronzer and a bit of highlighter) and sometimes all I want is a sheer layer of glitter before a night out. This product is perfect because it packs a lot of glitter and shine in a thin liquid shadow. It reminds me of the Glossier Lidstar or a cream eyeshadow by YSL or Dior … but without the price. This product feels and looks sophisticated. This brand isn't available in the US but if you are in the UK I would totally recommend you picking it up at Boots.

A show-stealing glitter eyeliner

Lastly, I have the Marc Jacobs Highliner Glam Glitter Gel eye crayon in Glitz Alright. This is one of my bougiest products but … I do love it! I have heard blogger after blogger rave about the highliner by Marc Jacobs and I’ve always been curious about them. The matte shades are known for having amazing pigmentation and being super long lasting. I bought this shade super on sale at a TJ Maxx and was so happy to find it. The shade is a stunning glittery purple, which may not be for everyone, but goes with my hazel eyes perfectly. This was my favorite for nights out as I would do a purple glitter cat eye and I always got so many compliments on it.

Those are three of my go-to glitter eye products that I can’t wait to start using again. Let me know yours below?
